To confirm your booking and to ensure your ceremony can go ahead at the above time and date, it is necessary to ensure you lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage form at least 1 calendar month prior to your ceremony date.
Example. If you are getting married on the 10th May 2023 you need to complete and email it back to Simple Ceremonies no later than the 10th April 2023. If you do not do this, we will not be able to marry you on the above date. If you then wish to proceed with another date you will need to rebook and repay for your ceremony.
So, please carefully follow the directions below to ensure all goes smoothly for your ceremony.

Complete your Notice of Intended Marriage (this must be done at least 1 calendar month prior to your ceremony date)
To complete the Notice of Intended Marriage form:
- Click here, and type in the required information
- You will receive an email with an attached PDF of your personal Notice of Intended Marriage form (NoIM) (check your spam mail if you do not receive with 1 minute of submitting).
- Check ALL the details on the form are CORRECT without OMISSION. If you need to make a correction log back in here https://simpleceremonies.com.au/noim_return/
- This NoIM then needs to be signed by either of the couple (or both) and their signatures need to be witnessed by an AUTHORISED PERSON. Click here to see the full list of Authorised Persons
- The signed NoIM then needs to be uploaded back onto our site. You will also need to upload; i) Your ID - this can either be your; passport OR your birth certificate AND your driver's license ii) If you have previously been married, you will also need to upload a copy of your Divorce Order or Death Certificate. (along with ID documents)
IMPORTANT
The above all needs to be done at least ONE Calendar month prior to the ceremony date.(Example. Ceremony to be held on the 10th May 2020, we must receive the NoIM signed and witnessed, no later than the 10th April 2020). If the NoIM is not received at least one calendar month prior to your ceremony date, by law we are unable to legally marry you. And, if you wish to proceed, you will need to book a future date and pay again. So, please get it back at least ONE calendar month prior to your ceremony date, thank you ;-).
You will need to provide the original NoIM on the day of your ceremony along with other original documents (see above) - if not before. !
A. On the day of your ceremony you will need to bring with you the following;
- The original Notice of Intended Marriage
- Your original Passport OR Original birth certificates (with photo ID e.g. Drivers licence)
- Divorce Order (Decree Absolute) or Death Certificate – if applicable.
* All documents must be in English or accompanied by an authorised (N.A.A.T.I accredited) original English translation - Without the above, we will not be able to marry you on the day of your ceremony.
B. In addition, on the day of your ceremony, you are required to bring with you two (2) witnesses.
They can be anyone as long as they are over 18 years and understand English.
C. Is an Interpreter required?
Both parties to the marriage need to understand and speak English. If they do not, it is their responsibility to provide an interpreter. This can be anyone as long as they speak and understand English and the language of both parties.

Do you need help with witnesses on the day of your ceremony?
Planning a very intimate ceremony - with just the two of you, or eloping? By law, you do require two people at your ceremony in addition to yourselves. Your witnesses can be anyone, as long as they are over 18 years old and understand what is occurring. If you would like us to arrange this for you, we can. The fee for 2 witnesses is $300 (or $150 for one witness).
